Owen O’Neill, Senior Drugs and Alcohol Co-ordinator
Owen joined EDACT in 1997 and became the Senior Drug and
Alcohol Co-ordinator in 2003. Owen graduated as a social worker
in 1990 and obtained a Masters in Addiction Studies in 1995.
He previously worked in Shaftesbury Square Hospital. Within
EDACT Owen is responsible for overseeing the development and
implementation of the Team’s action plan and for linking
in with the Alcohol and Drug Policy Branch (ADPB)/DHSSPS re.
strategic planning of how to tackle drugs and alcohol issues
at a regional level.
Kelly Gilliland, Drugs and Alcohol Co-ordinator
Kelly joined EDACT in July 2004. She previously worked for
the Health Promotion Agency, Nicare and the Shankill Women’s
Centre. She has a Degree in Modern Studies in the Humanities
and a Masters in Communication, Advertising and Public Relations.
Within EDACT, Kelly has a remit for Information, Prevention/Early
Intervention and Youth Treatment and Support issues and represents
EDACT on the North Belfast, West Belfast and North Down and
Ards forums.
Davis Turkington, Drugs and Alcohol Co-ordinator
Davis also joined EDACT in July 2004. He previously worked
for Dunlewey Substance Advice Centre, Contact Youth’s
Drugbeat project and PANDA. He has a degree in Social Psychology
and Sociology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Social Anthropology.
He is currently studying for his MSc. in Drugs and Alcohol:
Policy and Intervention. Within EDACT Davis has a remit for
Communities, Treatment and Support and Criminal Justice &
Social Legislation issues and represents EDACT on the Lisburn,
Down and South & East Belfast forums.
Marianne Ireland, Administrative Officer
Marianne Ireland joined EDACT as Administrative Officer
when it was first formed in 1997. Marianne left to work in
the NHSSB in 2003, however, she rejoined the Team when they
moved to their new offices in the Gasworks in 2004. Her role
is to provide secretarial and administrative support to the
Eastern Drugs & Alcohol Co-ordination Team.
